Birmingham ready to step back in for Tottenham misfit Boateng

Birmingham are considering reviving a loan move for Tottenham midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng, who is among the players that have put Damien Comolli's influence at White Hart Lane in the spotlight.

Birmingham co-owner David Sullivan described the deal as ‘still a possibility’, and suggested the Germany Under-21 midfielder was close to being bought by another club at the start of the week.

Sullivan said: ‘Another club were about to buy him for a pile of money, but then changed their mind.’

Ipswich Town are preparing a loan swoop for Stoke central defender Ryan Shawcross. The 20-year-old, who cost £1million from Manchester United in January, has dropped down the pecking order after the recent arrival of Ibrahima Sonko, Danny Higginbotham and Andrew Davies at the Britannia Stadium.
