Blackburn manager Paul Ince is hoping to make Fulham's Steve Davis his first signing for the club, despite competition from Rangers.
Davis, 23, impressed last season while on loan at the Gers, whose manager Walter Smith would like to make the deal permanent.
However, the Glasgow outfit have yet to meet Cottagers' asking price of £4million for the Northern Ireland international.

In demand: Davis has impressed Blackburn and Rangers
The longer that situation continues the more Ince will be convinced that his own deal can be struck for the player.
Ince is also interested in Bristol City defender Bradley Orr but the Championship side have given little encouragement so far and the new Blackburn manager has grown frustrated by his lack of activity to date.
'I've been making plenty of phone calls and following up various leads,'the former England international told the Telegraph. 'But, at this moment in time, there's nothing concrete to report.'
