Blue heaven - Mourinho makes it six trophies for Abramovich

A goal by Chelsea's outstanding player of the season, Didier Drogba, made it a full haul of domestic trophies for Jose Mourinho as Roman Abramovich saw the latest return on his £500million investment.

Drogba's goal five minutes from the end of extra time in a disappointing first FA Cup Final back at the rebuilt Wembley broke the deadlock and Manchester United hearts just as penalties were looming.

It was the Ivory Coast striker's 33rd goal of the season and his first against United, and it enabled Mourinho to claim a season that once promised an unprecedented Quadruple had ended in triumph.

With Abramovich applauding high up in his executive box,Mourinho came down the steps from the trophy presentation holding up six fingers to signal how many trophies he has won during his time at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues boss, who threw his Premier League winner's medal into the crowd last year, said: This one I don't throw away — it means a lot. We have won every trophy in English football in three years.

It is something the players deserve so much because of the difficult season they have had. It is a moment for everybody to enjoy. The team played very well, they understood exactly the plan.'

And he said of the fans who chanted his name: They are in my heart — in the bad moments and the good moments. I love these people. The players deserved to win this final trophy of the season and the victory is for them and for the supporters.'

United were looking for a fourth Double having beaten Chelsea to the Premiership title but the London club, though weakened by injuries — Andriy Shevchenko and Michael Ballack were absent — drew on their reserves to make it a Cup Double, having won the Carling Cup earlier this season.

At the final whistle, Chelsea manager Mourinho disappeared down the tunnel while his team celebrated but he returned to the arena after Drogba went to seek him out.

Both teams had chances to win the game before Drogba's strike, clipped over Edwin van der Sar after a neat one-two with Frank Lampard, secured Chelsea's fourth FACup victory.
