Blues boss Bruce hopes for spending spree in January

Birmingham boss Steve Bruce hopes Carson Yeung's imminent takeover of Birmingham will enable him to go on a January spending spree.

The Daily Mirror reports that Hong Kong tycoon Yeung, who bought 29.9 per cent of City in July for £15million, hopes to buy the rest of the Blues' shares for £35m next month.

He is flying in later this week for Saturday's home game with Bolton to continue negotiations.

Bruce said: "All the other investors in Premier League clubs have spent absolute fortunes. We hope it will be the case here too. I'm one of the lowest spenders - as a manager you always want more."
