World record holder Usain Bolt clocked 9.85 seconds to beat Olympic rival Asafa Powell at the Jamaica national track and field Championships in Kingston on Saturday.
Powell finished second in 9.97secs, while Michael Frater secured the third berth at the Olympic Games in Beijing in 10.04secs.
Three 'n' easy: World record holder Usain Bolt (left), wins the 100m final in front of Michael Frater (center) and Asafa Powell (right) at the Jamaican National Track and Field Championships
Last month in New York Bolt ran 9.72secs at the Reebok Grand Prix to beat Powell's world leading mark.
In the women's 100m, Kerron Stewart ran 10.80secs, the second-fastest time by a Jamaican woman ever, to edge out Shelly-Ann Fraster (10.85), Sherone Simpson (10.87) and world champion Veronica Campbell-Brown (10.88).
Meanwhile World 100 metres champion Tyson Gay threw down the gauntlet to his American rivals with a national record of 9.77 seconds in the quarter-finals of the United States Olympic Team Trials.
Gay more than made a point by beating Maurice Greene's nine-year-old mark of 9.79 having survived a scare in his heat.
In 92-degree heat at Hayward Field in Oregon, the World 100m, 200m and 4x100m gold medalist eased up and was caught by the field, surviving only after a late dip for the line.
When he returned to the track two and a half hours later, Gay was altogether more focussed, breaking into the lead at 30 metres and not letting up at all as he powered to the line, also breaking Greene's four-year-old Olympic Trials record of 9.91 in the process.
