Bolton ready to offer Anelka bumper deal

Bolton are ready to offer Nicolas Anelka a new contract today in a last-ditch bid to keep him at the Reebok Stadium.

The France striker has been intent on leaving with Portsmouth his preferred destination but Bolton will try to tempt him to stay with an offer of around £70,000 a week.

West Ham and Manchester City have also shown strong interest in the 28-year-old but Bolton have been holding out for a £12million fee - a £4m profit on their club record outlay a year ago.

That stalled negotiations with his suitors looking to pay between £7m and £9m plus players.

Bolton have rejected those offers and plan to offer better terms including an extension to his contract which still has three years to run.
