Bolton midfielder Diouf, who scored in the 74th minute, was involved in one tasteless first-half clash in the home leg of their round of 32 tie, and Atletico had substitute Sergio Aguero sent off in the second half for spitting at Matt Taylor.
Bolton boss Gary Megson said: "If there is evidence I am sure UEFA will act. I believe spitting is what their lad was sent off for. There's no place for it."

Highs and lows: El-Hadji Diouf celebrates scoring the game's only goal while (below) he clashes with Atletico's Rodriguez
Diouf's goal came only 60 seconds after the gifted Sergio Aguero had been red-carded for spitting after a challenge by Taylor.
Augero will now miss the return leg of the round of 32 but Megson believes his side still have much work to do.
The Bolton boss said: "Atletico have an exceptional squad even without Aguero. We feel 1-0 is a slender lead to take to an exceptional team like them.
"We do know from my time here we have a good team, a solid team and capable of scoring the odd goal away from home. But they are still favourites."
It was a richly deserved win for Bolton, which came on the back of a home defeat by Portsmouth at the weekend.
Backed by a bumper 26,163 crowd, they again showed their liking for European football.
Megson said: "We had an exceptional atmosphere and the players responded. That lifted the crowd even more and it was a good night. The only thing we could have improved on was to score more goals.
"I have always been proud of the team when they have put in a really good effort.
"We did that and took the game to a fantastic team. We did the same on Saturday but it did not go our way."
Atletico coach Javier Aguirre said: "I have looked at the TV pictures and iteems he spat on the ground between the linesman and the player."
