It was thought the Portuguese midfielder would be cup-tied because of his involvement in the Champions League for Valencia earlier this season.

Everton, however, will take advantage of a ruling which allows a club to add to their list of registered players for the competition before February 1.

David Moyes had named just 24 of a possible 25 players in their list of registered players before the start of the competition and will make the 21-year-old the final name.
