Borthwick and Farrell split top job

England captain Steve Borthwick and Andy Farrell, the former Great Britain rugby league skipper, will jointly lead Saracens this season.

As Borthwick is set to be on international duty during the autumn Tests and Six Nations, Eddie Jones has given Farrell equal importance in running the squad.

Jones, the new director of rugby, said: "Both players have shown throughout their careers they are fantastic leaders and we want that to continue with Saracens. Steve is England captain while Andy was Great Britain's youngest ever league captain, so that shows the qualities they will bring to the roles."

Borthwick admitted he was surprised to get the Saracens role having only just joined them. He said: "It's not something you ever expect but I am really looking forward to it. I've already been really impressed by my time at Saracens."
