Bouncing baby boy for Ouija Board

She was once one of the most successful mares to step on a racecourse but, as a mother, Ouija Board is also proving to be a Group One performer.

Her first foal, a colt by Kingmambo, was born at owner Lord Derby's Stanley House Stud in Newmarket last month.

Before her retirement in December 2006, Ouija Board landed seven Group One wins for trainer Ed Dunlop, including the English and Irish Oaks, and was twice successful in the Filly & Mare Turf at the Breeders' Cup meeting in America.

Ouija Board and her foal are pictured above with Lord Derby's wife Cazzie and their children (from the left) Henrietta, Oliver and Edward.

Later this month Ouija Board will take her son with her to Germany where she'll be mated with Monsun, sire of Manduro. As to the future of the first foal, Lord Derby said: 'We'll race him or sell him as a yearling.'
