England all-rounder Ravi Bopara will miss the inaugural World Twenty20 because of his broken thumb.
Bopara, initially due to be reassessed along with his fellow injury victim Andrew Flintoff at The Oval this morning, was absent from the rest of the squad's preparations for tomorrow's sixth NatWest Series match against India.

Injury setback: Ravi Bopara
It was subsequently confirmed he will miss the final two one-day internationals here and at Lord's - as well as this month's Twenty20 competition in South Africa.
"He is out of both unfortunately," an England spokesman reported.
Bopara broke his thumb in Sunday's defeat against India at Headingley - a result which left this seven-match series delicately poised at 3-2 to the hosts.
The 22-year-old Essex player is thought likely to be out for four to six weeks - putting his availability for England's one-day series in Sri Lanka in the balance.
Chairman of selectors David Graveney was expected to give further details at a lunchtime press conference of the prognosis for both Bopara and Flintoff - who missed Headingley with more discomfort in his troublesome left ankle but took part in today's practice session.
England have already called Sussex all-rounder Luke Wright into their NatWest squad as cover, following Bopara's injury.
Wright was already in the 15-man Twenty20 squad - meaning England will have to find another replacement for Bopara in South Africa.
Fast bowler Chris Tremlett is unfit for tomorrow's match because of a foot problem.
