Bruce may miss out on Spurs’ Egyptians

Birmingham City's £9million swoop for Tottenham duo Mido and Hossam Ghaly was hanging in the balance last night after they were unable to agree personal terms with the Egyptian players.

It is understood that Mido wants a £2m-ayear package and Ghaly £1.5m, with Birmingham so far unwilling to match their demands.

Talking terms: Mido

Mido was back in training at Spurs yesterday and the pair will remain at the north London club until a final decision on the move within the next 24 hours.

"I sat down with Birmingham to discuss the contract and I totally rejected some clauses," said Mido.

"Ghaly's situation is like mine. His negotiations with the club have stalled for the same reasons.

"I don't know what will happen next. I won't go to Birmingham unless these clauses are changed."

If talks collapse it would be a bitter blow for Birmingham manager Steve Bruce, who was under the impression that personal terms would be a formality and has been left in limbo while managing director Karren Brady attempts to break the deadlock.
