Bulls forward Morrison ruled out for season after scan reveals horror injury

Struggling Bradford have suffered a major blow with influential back row forward Glenn Morrison ruled out for the rest of the season.

The Australian missed the Bulls' last two matches with what was thought to be a
"dead leg" sustained in last month's defeat by Leeds and hoped to face St
Helens on Friday but now a specialist has revealed he both tore a quadricep
muscle and broke part of his kneecap.

Morrison, the club's vice-captain, now faces an operation to re-attach the
muscle along and will spend three months in a leg brace.

"I wasn't expecting this," he said. "I just thought I'd got a bad 'cork.' It is disappointing but the one positive is I'm signed next year.

"Hopefully I'll be right for a big off-season, which I didn't get this time, and ready for a big 2009."

Coach Steve McNamara, whose side have lost their last three matches, said: "We're all just really devastated for Glenn more than anything and he's understandably absolutely gutted.

"How he managed to carry on playing with that injury shows just what sort of an amazing character he is. It's unbelievable really. It turned out he didn't sleep for four nights due to the pain.

"He tried to do everything he could to get back for last week's match and was going to hold his hand up again but we suspected there was something more sinister going on. It's another situation we've got to deal with but we will get on and do that."
