Cahill, a good friend and Australian international team-mate of West Ham captain Lucas Neill, was a member of the Everton team which won 2-1 in Wednesday night's Carling Cup quarter-final.

Tomorrow he is back at Upton Park for a Premier League clash and said: "West Ham are a very good side and getting better.

"The cup win over them was very Everton but we have to be on our guard tomorrow because I fully expect a backlash.

"It was a tough game and you expect that when you come to Upton Park. I don't expect the second match to be any different."

West Ham striker Carlton Cole could play his last match tomorrow before a one-game suspension but is struggling with a hip injury.

Nobby Solano and Henri Camara, both cup-tied for Wednesday's night's quarter-final, look certain to be back in the squad while Matthew Etherington, who missed the match with a groin injury, could also be included.
