Captain crock Terry faces scan on injured knee

The Chelsea defender will be examined today and there are serious concerns that he may not be fit for the crucial game in Moscow on Wednesday.
Injured: Terry facing a scan
On a day when Gareth Barry seemed poised to force Frank Lampard on to the England bench for the first time in four years, Terry pulled out of training as a precaution. The problem deteriorated before the squad returned to their Hertfordshire hotel.
If Terry is ruled out of Saturday's clash with Estonia, Sol Campbell and Rio Ferdinand are likely to be paired at the heart of the defence at Wembley.
Ferdinand, along with Terry, Ashley Cole and Joe Cole, are all on yellow cards and another caution, or an injury to Campbell, would leave McClaren scratching around for a central defensive partnership in Russia.
Everton defender Joleon Lescott is short of international experience and coach Steve McClaren would prefer to keep Micah Richards at right back for the tricky tie in Moscow.
McClaren has given his players the day off today but Terry is expected to be assessed by Chelsea's medical staff before a decision is made on his fitness.
He has been wearing a protective facemask since breaking a cheekbone in a clash with Fulham striker Clint Dempsey last month and is having pain-killing injections for a broken toe.
His Chelsea teammate Lampard is back from a thigh injury but for the second day's training in a row, Aston Villa's versatile Barry played alongside Steven Gerrard in central midfield.
Barry impressed against Israel and Russia last month, and while McClaren is determined to keep his players guessing, that would appear to be his preferred line-up.
Not since a 0-0 draw in Istanbul in October 2003 has Lampard stepped off the bench to represent England, though he can comfort himself with the knowledge that he will almost certainly be recalled against Russia next Wednesday, when McClaren plans to change his formation.
