Cardiff's Welsh wizards cast their spell on QPR

Joe Ledley's double boosted Cardiff's play-off bid as QPR's recent revival came crashing to a halt.

The in-demand Ledley struck twice in the first half, before Paul Parry made it a night to forget for the big-spending visitors.

It was another stellar show from Wales star Ledley which will only increase his value as Rangers were put to the sword.

Cardiff began on top and it was no surprise to see them take a deserved 12th minute lead.

Paul Parry seized on an under-hit back-pass from new full-back Damien Delaney, and the winger drew keeper Lee Camp before playing in Ledley to slide home the opener.

Cardiff almost claimed a second goal twice in the space of 30 seconds as Peter Whittingham and Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink were denied by saves.

Rangers, with seven new signings in their side, played like strangers as Roger Johnson and Parry were kept out by the heroics of Camp.

The in-form Parry was tormenting the Rangers defence and Dave Jones' side should have been long out of sight before Fitz Hall flashed a shot inches past the far post as Rangers finally threatened.

But the visitors were dealt a hammer blow in the 40th minute.

Aaron Ramsey's cross found Hasselbaink in acres of space and his cool layoff saw the winger fire into an empty net.

QPR needed a response and sub Dexter Blackstock flashed a header from an Akos Buzsaky corner wide of the far post just moments after the break.

However, Rangers'woes continued when Hall and Matthew Connolly had to go off, and then Parry's low finish on the run sealed the visitors' fate after 57 minutes before Hogan Ephraim grabbed a consolation on 76 minutes.
