Carlos Tevez delighted to end final jinx with United's European glory

Carlos Tevez described Manchester United’s triumph as a dream come true after ending his finals jinx.

The Argentina striker has twice been a runner-up in the Copa America, while his Boca Juniors side lost the 2004 Copa Libertadores Final.

Breaking his duck: Manchester United's Carlos Tevez lifts the trophy after winning the Champions League - the first final win of his career

Tevez said: "It has been a long time since I felt like this - it's a huge emotion in my heart.

"When I was a child, I never thought I would be now lifting the cup, but dreams usually come true and I am very, very happy."

Following previous setbacks, Tevez knew fate would play a part in Moscow. "I came from a couple of finals I lost, to Brazil in the Copa America and Once Caldas in the Libertadores. This time I had to win it."

Tevez hailed United manager Sir Alex Ferguson for the confidence he puts in him.

"He always gives me confidence," added Tevez. "I know what he thinks, what he needs and we always discuss about the decisions he will make. He has always backed me and I am very thankful to him."

He finally dedicated the title to his daughter Florencia, adding: "She is the person who makes me go on every day. She gives me strength."
