Carvalho could be back for the Blues in two weeks

Ricardo Carvalho is set to return from a hamstring injury before Christmas.

Chelsea have sorely missed the Portugal defender since he was hurt against Hull at the end of October.

He was due to be out for only three weeks but his recovery has taken longer than expected and Chelsea have lost top spot in the Premier League since then.

Manager Luiz Felipe Scolari hopes Carvalho can be back in time for the trip to Everton on 22 December.

He said: "The doctor told me today he would be back in 14 days."

However, Scolari's first priority is getting Chelsea back to winning ways at Bolton tomorrow after losing to Arsenal last week.

Victory would see Chelsea set a record of 11 consecutive away League wins, which is in contrast to their form at Stamford Bridge where they have won just three times all season.

But Scolari added: "Points are more important than any records.

"The players don't think about records but just arriving at the end of the season in first position.

"If we lost 40 points at home and win the League it's not a problem for me."
