The 30-year-old defender played under Mourinho at Porto and then followed him to Chelsea in a £20million transfer in 2004.
Carvalho has formed a solid partnership with Blues captain John Terry but he now wants to quit Stamford Bridge.
He said: "I have heard a few comments [about a move to Inter]. I would love to be coached by Mourinho again.
"The majority of the trophies I have won were with Mourinho. At Chelsea, there is a new cycle happening so we will see what happens.
"But you never know - sometimes a challenge is good for a player. I will speak with [chief executive] Peter Kenyon after the tournament.
While Carvalho is eyeing a future away from Chelsea, Michael Essien has pledged his commitment to the club.
The 25-year-old midfielder said he was relishing the chance to make amends for finishing the season with no silverware, despite chasing glory on four fronts.
He added: "I will go back to Chelsea for the next season and expect to have a great season.
"We will be able to bounce back a better side. The season generally was disappointing but that is football. When you put these things behind you, you become stronger."
The club have yet to appoint Avram Grant's successor and are expected to receive another blow today when AC Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti turns them down.
