Century-chasing Turner hailed as 'Rebecca Adlington of racing'

A double at Great Leighs yesterday saw Turner reach 98 for the year and, with eight rides at Lingfield and Wolverhampton today and three bookings at Lingfield tomorrow, she is now odds-on to reach three figures.
William Hill are offering 8-11 that Turner rides the two winners she needs and the company's spokesman David Hood said: "Hayley is on the threshold of making history and is the Rebecca Adlington of horseracing, the most successful lady jockey Europe has ever seen.
"It will be terrific for Hayley, and the sport, if she makes the 100 winners."
The 25-year-old won the Channel 4 personality of the year award last weekend and was among four jockeys nominated for the best Flat jockey at the Horseracing Writers and Photographers Association earlier this month.
Turner, who has three rides at Lingfield this afternoon and five at Wolverhampton this evening, said: "It's gone very well and I've got a chance of getting to 100. I've got eight rides and a few on New Year's Eve. I just need a bit of luck and the horses to run well. If I have a bit of luck, you never know.
"If it happens, it happens - but I've had a fantastic season. If not, it's not the end of the world and it would be the target for next year."
Double Olympic swimming gold medallist Adlington finished in third place in the BBC Sports Personality of the Year awards earlier this month and William Hill offer odds of 100-1 that Turner wins the prestigious prize in 2009.
