Cerny: I would love to stay at Tottenham

Cerny's current deal expires in the summer and the 33-year-old has previously admitted he would be a likely departure as no extension had been offered.
Tottenham goalkeeper Radek Cerny wants to discuss a new contract at White Hart Lane after breaking into the side in place of Paul Robinson.

Robinson's dip in form led to Cerny being given his first proper run in the team since joining Spurs from Slavia Prague in 2005 and manager Juande Ramos has been pleased with the Czech Republic keeper.

"I would love to stay at Tottenham and now it just depends on them if they will come up with something," said Cerny to Galaxie Sport.

"We will see how it will turn out."

Ramos has been looking at recruiting a goalkeeping coach after Hans Segers' departure when Martin Jol left as boss earlier in the season. Perry Suckling, from the backroom staff of the academy, has been working with the Robinson and Cerny in the meantime.

Spurs have been linked with Ajax goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg, while it is believed they have looked at the likes of Manuel Neuer at Schalke and Samir Handanovic of Udinese.

Carlos Kameni, the Cameroon international at Espanyol, has also been suggested as a possible target.

Ramos also has England Under-21 goalkeeper Ben Alnwick returning on loan from Leicester in the summer, while Robinson has recently spoken of his determination to rebuild his confidence.

Robinson insisted he did not hand in a transfer request last month, despite being upset at being told he was dropped just hours before the Carling Cup clash against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.

"If the club turn around to me and say I've got no future at the club then that's a whole different situation, and that's not the situation," he said.
