9.15: A superb run from Essien but when he cuts into the area he fires into the side netting rather than crossing.
9.10: Liverpool look increasingly strong, and their supporters are now in full voice as they smell the chance of reaching an eighth European Cup final.
9.05: Liverpool are right back in the tie and it's that man Torres again. Benayoun shows his strength with a fine mazy run and sets up Torres, who slots home clinically.

8.31: Half-time whistle blows. Chelsea deserve to be in front, but you sense there could be plenty more drama left in this one.
8.26: Quite possibly a major moment in the whole tie. Ballack's free-kick from outside the penalty area is brilliant, but curls inches wide with a hapless Reina no more than a spectator.
8.20: Chelsea understandably have gained big confidence from the goal and are purring just at the moment. Liverpool need to hang in there.

8.17: GOAL Stamford Bridge explodes with joy as Chelsea take the lead. Lampard sets up Salomon Kalou, who fires in a fierce shot that is parried away by Reina, only for Drogba to pounce on the rebound and fire home superbly. It had to be didn't it? Drogba makes a point of celebrating in front of the Liverpool bench, no doubt stung by Rafa Benitez and his pre-match barbs.
8.12: Scrappy period of play characterised by poor passing from both sides
8.08: Riise fires a dangerous ball across the edge of the home penalty area, but Benayoun slices horribly.
8.07: The visitors suffer a major blow when Martin Skrtel hobbles off, and is replaced by Sami Hyypia.
8.06: Essien tests Reina with a shot from distance but the Liverpool keeper is equal to the task.

8.03: Should be 1-0 to Chelsea, it's as simple as that - Frank Lampard threads through a delightful ball for Drogba, who carelessly screws the ball wide when he should have scored.

7.55: The game is far more open early on that many pundits were predicting, and Steven Gerrard's superb pass sets up Fernando Torres, who takes one touch too many in the Chelsea penalty area and allows Petr Cech to block the shot.
7.51: Liverpool fail to properly clear the corner, and Michael Essien fires high over the bar from 30 yards out.
7.50: Droga forces Pepe Reina into the first save of the match, with a decent shot from 20 yards that skids on the slippy surface and forces the Liverpol keeper to parry behind for a corner.
7.46: Eyebrows raised all round as Didier Drogba goes to ground in the first minute, but to be fair he is fouled.

The atmosphere at Stamford Bridge is crackling, with Chelsea one step away from their first Champions League final.
Frank Lampard returns for the hosts after missing the league match against Manchester United following the death of his mother.
Chelsea also had Michael Essien back from European suspension to play at right-back while Salomon Kalou replaced Florent Malouda from last week's first leg.
Liverpool produced a surprise by including Yossi Benayoun in midfield in place of Ryan Babel, while Riise came in at left-back in place of the injured Fabio Aurelio.
Chelsea have the slight advantage after John Arne Riise headed that late own goal at Anfield, but Liverpool have emerged victorious in two recent semi-finals against the Blues.
Liverpool and Chelsea meet for the right to play Premier League rivals Manchester United in the European Cup final in Moscow.
