Champions Trophy postponed: ICC delay event over security concerns

Pakistani police officers stand guard at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore

Next month's Champions Trophy - which was scheduled to be held in Pakistan - has been postponed.

The eight-team tournament was due to take place between September 12-28 but the International Cricket Council today took the decision to delay the event.

South Africa had already pulled out because of security concerns while players' associations from England, Australia and New Zealand had expressed reservations about playing in Pakistan at the present time.

Rescheduling it this year is almost impossible and PA Sport understands the ICC are looking to hold it next year.
