Chelsea captain JT tells his Barnsley counterpart that he'll save the Blues' season - and manager Avram Grant's job

John Terry has vowed to force Chelsea back on track towards honours — and save Avram Grant's job.

The manager already knows he is on borrowed time after Saturday's FA Cup humiliation by Barnsley that followed Carling Cup Final defeat at the hands of Tottenham.

Grant now has to save himself by winning either the Premier League or the Champions League.

Look into the eyes: John Terry is not best pleased during Chelsea's defeat at Oakwell

Owner Roman Abramovich will not accept anything less, yet Terry is still on the manager's side, according to Barnsley skipper Brian Howard.

Howard said: "The look I saw in JT's eyes after the game told me he is not going to lie down and die after this. He told me he'll do everything in his power to drag Chelsea back.

"As he said, the team still have two massive trophies to aim for and he will do everything he can to make sure there is a quick recovery against Derby on Wednesday night.

"JT knows there is going to be a lot of stuff said and written about Chelsea after losing to us. But he is prepared to accept it and move on. He still believes in Chelsea and he still believes he can lead the club to success this season."

Petr Cech, who missed the 1-0 quarter-final defeat with an ankle injury, also insisted Grant hasn't lost the players' support.

There have been reports of unrest among the squad over Grant's methods, but Cech is adamant he has the players' full backing.

He said: "I think the relationships here are like in every club in the world in terms of the coach and the players.

"We're a big club and have a coach who was unknown in England in the past and that is why everyone tries to find new things. If the relationship was not working, we would not be winning. This is clear evidence of that being just speculation."

Chelsea can get within two points of leaders Arsenal if they win both their games in hand and Cech believes his club can push the Gunners and Manchester United all the way in the Premier League.

Cech, who will be out for another week with an ankle injury, said: "The title will go on until the last round."
