John Terry has pleaded with team-mate Frank Lampard to stay at and insists the side would not be the same if he was to leave Stamford Bridge.
The England midfielder, who has been linked with Inter Milan all summer, is holding out for a new five-year deal and will hold talks with the Blues in the next few days.
But skipper Terry says Luiz Felipe Scolari's new-look team will miss out Lampard's outstanding goal contribution.
Brothers in arms: John Terry wants Frank Lampard (right) to stay at Chelsea.
He said: 'We’re not the same without Lamps.
'Any side would miss his goals and displays.'
Terry also believes with the addition of Deco, who joined Chelsea for £8m from Barcelona this summer, the club has the best midfield in the Barclays Premier League.
'We’ve got so much competition for places there,' said Terry.
'Michael Ballack is now settled and we’re starting to see the benefits.
'Deco looks like an unbelievable signing and Michael Essien is on fire.
'The manager has got some big choices coming his way.'
