Chesterfield's Jamie Ward is at the centre of a huge League One transfer scramble.
The Spirites' striker is being chased by a cluster of clubs as they try to plot their way to the Championship.
Northampton Town, Colchester United, MK Dons and Scunthorpe are all interested in the former Aston Villa trainee whose career has started to kick into life at Saltergate.
Target: Jamie Ward is wanted by a number of League One clubs
There is also interest from America as manager Lee Richardson prepares to fend off a rush of enquiries for the 22-year-old.
Frustration is growing among several of those suitors as there is little indication yet from Chesterfield that they are prepared to cash in on the forward.
Chairman Barry Hubbard holds the key as to whether the Spirites will be looking to off-load a striker they bought just 12 months ago.
But so far there is no sign that the League Two outfit are willing sellers, despite the fact that they were willing to listen to offers during January's transfer window.
