Chris Tomlinson ready to leap back to the top

British long jump record holder Chris Tomlinson believes he is back to his best for the Aviva World Trials and UK Championships, which start in Birmingham tonight.

The 27-year-old's Beijing Olympic bid was shattered by a calf injury but last month he jumped 8.23metres, which is just six centimetres short of his best.

Tomlinson said: "I'm in the best shape of my life. Now I feel like a different athlete.

"Sometimes you forget why you get into sport in the first place but now I'm competing with a smile on my face again."
