starlet Michael Johnson has been offered a bumper five-year deal to stay with the club.
Worth £25,000-a-week - double Johnson's current earnings - City boss Mark Hughes will try to convince the 20-year-old to shun the advances of Arsenal and Liverpool.
Johnson: A key part of Hughes' plans at Man City
Hughes said: 'He’s a young player with a great future and we want that to be at City.
'Everything is there for him to develop and I’m sure he will become a regular in the England side.
'He’s an outstanding young talent and we fully expect him to be with us for many years,' Hughes told the Sun.
Meanwhile, Chelsea's Israeli defender Tal Ben-Haim had discussions with Hughes yesterday ahead of his £6million move from Chelsea.
