Manchester City have made a surprise £5million offer to Portsmouth for striker Benjani.

City, who have also opened talks with Valencia's Miguel Angel Angulo, have been frustrated in attempts to land a striker after targeting CSKA Moscow's Vagner Love and Jo Alves.
