Collins link to Hodgson's Fulham job

Former Hibernian boss John Collins is again being linked with the Fulham post
John Collins could be on his way back to Fulham if, as expected, they are relegated.

Collins, who spent three seasons with the club from 2000, is understood to be a target to replace Roy Hodgson who has struggled to revive Fulham since replacing Lawrie Sanchez in December.

Defeat at Reading on Saturday could seal Hodgson's fate, with the 60-year-old being moved upstairs to the post of director of football.

Collins quit as boss of Hibernian the day before Sanchez was sacked and had been favourite for the job then.

Hodgson admitted his players had "hit the wall" and he is close to rock bottom himself as the club stare at relegation from the Premier League after defeat to Sunderland at the weekend.

"I think the players to some extent have hit the wall a little bit," Hodgson said.

"They've been battling every week without a great deal of joy or success. I thought there were times against Sunderland in the second half when we had the heart but we didn't really have much else.

"But we're a bottom team, we've been a bottom team all season. Maybe I'm expecting too much to expect them to play like a top team.

"So if people are writing us off I can quite understand that, if they're looking at it on paper."
