Confident Murray to start with Santoro

Andy Murray will begin his Wimbledon campaign against veteran Fabrice Santoro next week full of confidence.

The British No1 has overcome a thumb problem which forced him out of Queen's and believes he can get past the fourth round at a Grand Slam for the first time.

That could see Murray face Rafael Nadal in the quarter-finals and he said: "I am really looking forward to next week.

"I feel in great shape and am excited about playing, especially after missing Wimbledon last year through injury. I hope I can progress deep into the tournament."

In today's draw, Murray was paired with 35-year-old Santoro in what is the French player's farewell year. He has an awkward, unconventional style that has troubled top players in the past, but has never got beyond the third round.

Murray said: "Fabrice is one of my favourite players. I love watching him play. He uses both hands to play his forehands and backhands."

Roger Federer, chasing a sixth title in a row, opens his campaign against Domnik Hrbaty of Slovakia, while Nadal's bid for a first Wimbledon triumph begins with qualifier Andreas Beck, of Germany.

In the women's side, world No1 Ana Ivanovic has an easier looking draw than second seed Jelena Jankovic, who is in the same half as Maria Sharapova and champion Venus Williams, who starts against Naomi Cavaday.
