Andrew Flintoff in injury scare

The all-rounder's injury has led to a recall for Steve Harmison to the 14-man squad for Thursday's match after yesterday's drawn opening tie in Cardiff.
Flintoff is experiencing "soreness and swelling" in the knee, the same one on which he underwent an operation in April after suffering a torn meniscus while playing in the Indian Premier League.
The Lancashire player twisted it while fielding in the Australians' innings and, if he is ruled out of the match, it will be yet another setback in a career which has been blighted since his heroic performance in the 2005 Ashes.
Although he took only one wicket, Flintoff was the only England pace bowler to show any menace in the drawn Test in Cardiff, while his batting seemed to be improving after promising knocks in both innings.
National selector Geoff Miller said: "We have added Steve Harmison to our squad for the next Test match as Andrew Flintoff injured his right knee at Cardiff and will undergo a precautionary scan later today.
"Andrew is experiencing soreness and swelling in the knee which he twisted while in the field and he will be reassessed by the medical staff over the next 48 hours leading up to the Test match on Thursday.
"In the event of Andrew being unfit, we see Steve as a like for like replacement in terms of the type of bowler he is and his ability to unsettle the opposition batsmen with pace and bounce.
"But we will need to consider all our options carefully when we come to determine the make-up of our bowling attack at Lord's and the final decision will depend on our assessment of the pitch and the likely overhead conditions."
England have turned to Harmison yet again after their insipid bowling performance in Cardiff, where the five-man attack managed to take only six Australian wickets.
Yet with the Lord's pitch expected to offer far more to the seam bowlers than Sophia Gardens did, Harmison has been brought back after a strong county season and an eye-catching display in the England Lions' draw with Australia earlier this month, when he took six Aussie wickets and roughed up young opening batsman Phillip Hughes.
The move was backed by Harmison's county coach Geoff Cook, who watched his charge take five wickets in Yorkshire's first innings in the Division One match at Headingley.
"He's just played Australia, and he bowled pretty well then," said Cook. "He's a tall lad and a world-class bowler."
England squad: Strauss (capt), Cook, Bopara, Pietersen, Collingwood, Prior (wkt), Flintoff, Broad, Swann, Anderson, Panesar, Harmison, Onions, Bell.
