Andrew Strauss and Craig Kieswetter line up to open against the Aussies
10 June 2010
After Paul Collingwood led England to victory in the World Twenty20 there were suggestions he might also replace Strauss in the 50-over form but the selectors have kept faith with their Test skipper. Kieswetter's superb form in the Twenty20 triumph means he is preferred to Prior and will open the batting against the Aussies.
National selector Geoff Miller said: "Craig Kieswetter made a century in only his third one-day international in Bangladesh and continued to impress during the World T20 in the Caribbean.
"He has been earmarked for a role at the top of the order and I am sure he will be relishing the opportunity to test himself against high-quality opposition."
Collingwood and Stuart Broad return after being rested for the two Tests against Bangladesh and Tim Bresnan is fit enough to be included after a foot injury. There are also recalls for Ian Bell and Michael Yardy in the 13-man squad.
The five-match series begins at the Rose Bowl on 22 June and concludes at Lord's on 3 July.
Australia will be without their main strike bowler Mitchell Johnson, who has an infected elbow and is replaced by young New South Wales paceman Josh Hazlewood.
England 13: A Strauss (capt), J Anderson, I Bell, T Bresnan, S Broad, P Collingwood, C Kieswetter, E Morgan, K Pietersen, R Sidebottom, G Swann, L Wright, M Yardy
