Debut duck for Jonathan Trott as Ireland shock England stars

Warming up for nine more limited-overs showdowns with Australia, England's batting display brought back memories of their humiliating Twenty20 defeat by Holland earlier this summer.
Trott, whose brilliant century on his Test debut set up the series-clinching victory against the Aussies at The Brit Oval, was trapped lbw by Australian-raised Trent Johnston.
Ravi Bopara, axed for the final Test after losing his form, also went without scoring to Johnston, edging to second slip.
Matt Prior (29), captain Paul Collingwood — who won the toss and elected to bat but made only nine — and Owais Shah (21) all perished to skied catches with only Kent debutant Joe Denly (67) making an impression.
At 135 for six, England were in desperate trouble but some big late hitting by Luke Wright, who made 36 from only 26 deliveries before falling to a stunning catch by John Mooney off the bowling of Johntson, gave them a fighting chance.
Johnston finished with four for 26.
England left out Stuart Broad and James Anderson from their bowling attack but Ireland's reply was held up by rain.
Meanwhile, cricket chiefs today confirmed they have axed the domestic 50-over competition.
Next summer, counties will compete in the four-day LV Championship, a new-look Twenty20 competition and also a 40-over tournament, but the 50-over Friends Provident Trophy has been dropped.
