England trio out to state Ashes case

England's emerging stars will be given a chance to stake a claim for an Ashes spot in the forthcoming two-Test series against Bangladesh.

With Paul Collingwood and Stuart Broad left out of the matches as part of the selectors' rotation policy, Eoin Morgan, Steven Finn and Ajmal Shahzad are all hoping to make their mark against the tourists.

Morgan is likely to make his Test debut at Lord's on Thursday after being rewarded for his superb contribution to England's victorious World Twenty20 campaign.

"Eoin Morgan has impressed everyone since his
inclusion in England's one-day squad and he now has the opportunity to play a role in the Test team," said national selector Geoff Miller. "He has always held ambitions of playing across all forms of the game.

"We were encouraged by Steven Finn's Test debut in Bangladesh during the winter and he has had a fine start to the domestic season for Middlesex.

"He is aware of what is involved at international level and, along with Ajmal Shazhad, who has also made a bright start to the county season with Yorkshire after touring Bangladesh, offers us a great deal of depth in the bowling ranks."
