Ravi Bopara back for England in World Twenty20 squad

After a terrible summer in all forms of the game against Australia, Bopara was discarded by England for the winter tours of South Africa and Bangladesh, and chose to play first-class cricket for Auckland in New Zealand during the off-season.
But the Essex batsman was selected to play for Kings XI Punjab for the second successive season in the Indian Premier League, and he will now have the chance to make a strong statement to the selectors for the coming summer.
England's squad for the two-week tournament, which begins on 30 April, also includes uncapped Hampshire batsman Michael Lumb, recalled Sussex captain Michael Yardy and Somerset wicketkeeper-batsman Craig Kieswetter.
The presence of Kieswetter means there is no place for Matt Prior, a surprising choice given his ability to play the big shots. Prior was also left out of the squad for last year's competition, while the decision to choose Kieswetter reflects his success in the one-day series in Bangladesh.
"Craig Kieswetter showed what he is capable of in international limited overs cricket, and as a wicketkeeper at the top of the order, he gives us options down the order," said national selector Geoff Miller, indicating that the 22-year-old is likely to open the innings.
"Craig has improved over time and his selection indicates real competition for places. Matt Prior very much remains in the England set-up and a part of our plans.
"Both Michael Yardy and Ravi Bopara have earned recalls to the squad after going away and working hard on their cricket with excellent results."
As he did in last year's World Twenty20 in England, Paul Collingwood will lead the side, but there is no place in the 15-man squad for Jonathan Trott or Owais Shah, although seam bowler Ryan Sidebottom is in despite recent injury problems.
Tim Bresnan is rewarded for his excellent displays in Bangladesh, while off‑spinner James Tredwell, another member of that touring party, has also made the cut.
