Tim Bresnan's tour misery

Fast bowler Tim Bresnan is out of the Test series against Pakistan. He will fly home tomorrow after the elbow on which he had surgery last November reacted badly when he bowled in the nets in Dubai today.

Captain Andrew Strauss said: "He had an injection and a good rest and we were all expecting him to be fine. But it is very painful and, given that, he is probably not going to be able to play for two or three weeks which means he will not be able to take part in the Test series."

England planned for Bresnan failing to recover by bringing Durham's Graham Onions to the UAE as cover.
