fans will have the opportunity to run the rule over three of the club's bright young prospects when top Spanish side Villarreal visit Upton Park tomorrow.
With Craig Bellamy out for a month with hamstring trouble, Kieron Dyer sidelined until November with a stress fracture and defender Anton Ferdinand also missing through injury tomorrow, West Ham manager Alan Curbishley intends to give youth its chance.
Reid all about it: Winger Kyel Reid is one of a number of youngsters to have impressed at West Ham during pre-season.
'The youngsters have done well in pre-season," said Curbishley, 'and players such as Junior Stanislas, Zavon Hines and Kyel Reid deserve their chance.'
Also out tomorrow is Northern Ireland international full-back George McCartney and Curbishley today admitted he is looking for cover.
'Anton is touch and go for the start of the season,' he said, "so we need to make sure we have enough cover.'
West Ham have been linked with a loan move for Marseille defender Gael Givet but Curbishley denied that he is interested in Manchester United striker Louis Saha.
He also discounted rumours that Aston Villa are preparing to make a firm £6m bid for Ferdinand and that Arsenal want keeper Robert Green.
He said: 'I was with Arsene Wenger at a meeting on Wednesday and nothing was said.'
