Davies hopes harsh words will end run

Steve Davies admits there were some "harsh words" during a twohour team meeting aimed at ending England's dire run.

England have gone 13 internationals without success this winter, the latest being their six-wicket Twenty20 defeat to West Indies on Sunday.

Ahead of Friday's opener to the five-match, one-day international series against West Indies at the Providence Stadium, the team have tried to thrash out a solution.

"There have been some harsh words," admitted Worcestershire's wicketkeeper-batsman Davies, who marked his international debut by top scoring with 27 on Sunday.

"We had quite a good meeting for a couple of hours and thrashed things out. It's not nice losing but we will be doing something about that."

England remain hopeful captain Andrew Strauss can recover from a slight hamstring problem to lead the side on Friday having been unable to take a full part in training yesterday.
