'Decisions and mistakes change games' - Gerrard slams 'disappointed' Robinson

Liverpool midfielder Steven Gerrard had criticism for England teammate Paul Robinson after last night's 2-1 defeat in Russia

In a thinly-veiled criticism of Tottenham goalkeeper Robinson, Gerrard said: "Paul will feel disappointed with the second goal.

"It's unthinkable to have a European Championship finals without England, and as players we have to take responsibility. But the penalty decision turned the whole game.

"Now we're waiting on other people to do us favours. I can't believe it's out of our hands. We worked so hard to put ourselves in the driving seat.

"Football's a cruel game and decisions and mistakes change games."

Robinson has had a mixed season so far with errors costing both Spurs and England goals.

But both White Hart Lane boss Martin Jol and England chief Steve McClaren have stood by the ex-Leeds man - but Gerrard's harsh words could spell the end for Robinson for the final group match at home to Croatia.
