Defender Alves snubs United, Arsenal and Spurs to join Barcelona
07 June 2008
Barcelona look to have beaten a host of English clubs to the signature of Brazilian right-back Daniel Alves after they agreed a deal with La Liga rivals Sevilla, according to reports in Spain.
"I am very pleased an agreement has been reached and that I will be joining a club of the stature of Barcelona," Alves was quoted as telling Spanish radio station RAC1.

"I am an ambitious player and hope that by joining an important club like this it will help me to win titles."
The deal is thought to be worth 29.5 million euros (£23.5million), a price which could increase to as much as 35.5m (£28.5million) euros if Alves helps the Catalans to league or Champions League success.
The 25-year-old has spent four years with Sevilla since signing from Brazilian club Bahia in 2003, and has been strongly linked to Chelsea, Manchester United, Arsenal and Spurs at various points over recent seasons.
Barca are expected to confirm the transfer on Monday.
