Derby celebrate triple signing

Derby County manager Billy Davies last night celebrated a triple signing by penning a one-year contract extension and welcoming Craig Brown and Colin Miller to Pride Park.

The former Motherwell manager's decision to sign a new deal ensures he is tied to the Premiership newcomers until 2010.

He will be joined by former Scotland manager Brown, who has become the club's football consultant, and Scots-born former Canadian international Miller, who is the new assistant first-team coach.

A position as assistant manager remains vacant after it emerged that David Kelly, the man Davies wants, will not be joining the club.

"I don't think David will be joining this club in time for next season," said Davies. "There are too many issues between Derby and Preston."
