Dettori fails to outshine north stars

Arsene Wenger won't be adding another foreign name to his squad after Frankie Dettori ended up on the losing side in the north versus south jockeys' football match.

Passionate Arsenal fan Dettori's Italian skills couldn't prevent the south team being beaten despite the fact that they led at half-time through a Frannie Norton goal and were inspired by a dynamic performance from Johnny Murtagh.

Newly crowned joint champion Seb Sanders was a second half sub for the south side and Kevin Darley came on for the north who hit back strongly with Tony Hamilton completing a hat-trick in a 3-1 win.

The match in Newmarket raised £13,000 for the Injured Jockeys Fund.
