Didier Drogba's outburst at Avram Grant
20 May 2008
Drogba believes former manager Jose Mourinho, who was replaced by Grant after he was sacked in September, should get all the credit if Chelsea beat Manchester United in Moscow tomorrow night.
The striker said: "What do you want me to say about him? Apart from the fact he brought his own vision of football, he is less charismatic and less argumentative than Mourinho. That creates a gap. In any case, Grant did not have a lot to say. He just had to wait for the results to come along or not.
"Like a son after the loss of his father? In our case, we found ourselves with a stepfather that we hadn't chosen."
The timing of Drogba's outburst couldn't be worse as Chelsea prepare for their first Champions League Final, while Grant is under pressure to keep his job.
But Drogba admits he has his own problems and is worried that his reputation for falling over too easily to win free-kicks could come back to haunt him in Moscow.
Drogba said he has been constantly reprimanded by match officials before games in the Premier and Champions League since he confessed to diving after playing Manchester City in 2005.
He added: "Since I had the misfortune to say that I did occasionally dive because people pushed me and not through simulation, I had the feeling people take me for a cheat.
"The referees in both the Premier League and Champions League come to see me before games to tell me no diving today. I believe they don't listen to me."
The 30-year-old has been constantly linked with a move away from Chelsea this summer but is adamant he has yet to decide where his future lies.
Speaking in France Football about his situation, he added: "The result of the final will have no influence on my future. My family feel well in London and so do I."
