Gibson and Gareth Southgate want the Digard deal concluded so they can continue their summer transfer plans.

Their move for Reading's James Harper is similarly at an advanced stage and they want Sparta Rotterdam’s Martin Emnes and Swansea’s Ferrie Bodde.

Dutch forward Emnes will cost £2.75 million and midfielder Bodde is available for around £2 million.

Gibson wants a solution to the Digard standoff as Middlesbrough weigh up an offer for Jimmy Bullard. Gary O’Neill and Luke Young could both be allowed to move back south if they land their targets.
