Don't compare Diaby to Taylor, says Arsene

Arsene Wenger had no complaints about Abou Diaby's red card in the 3-2 win at Bolton — but the Arsenal manager said it did not compare to the lunge that broke Eduardo's leg.

The Ivorian midfielder was sent off in the 31st minute for a reckless challenge on Gretar Steinsson.

Diaby's tackle drew comparisons with the foul by Birmingham defender Martin Taylor which broke Eduardo's leg last month.

Wenger, who initially wanted Taylor banned for life for that offence, said: "Diaby was a fraction high and he can't complain.

"But there was no comparison with the foul on Eduardo because that tackle was much higher."

Croatia striker Eduardo, meanwhile, will go back to Brazil, the country of his birth, for further treatment and rehabilitation on the injury that is expected to keep him out for a year.

Eduardo met the national team doctor, Jose Luiz Runco, in London last week when the five-time world champions played Sweden in a friendly at the Emirates Stadium.

The 25-year-old will fly to Brazil in a fortnight to begin treatment. Runco said: "Following that first contact, I have not had an opportunity to analyse the X-rays. However here in Brazil, it will be easier for us to analyse his injury and plot a recovery plan.

"The most important thing is that he is in a good frame of mind ahead of the rehabilitation."

Eduardo insisted this week would forgive Taylor for the horror tackle. "He came to the hospital but I did not see him," he said. "My wife told me he came to see me while I was having the operation.

"Maybe he was there when was unconscious but if he comes to me now then I will accept an apology."
