Draw fails to go Cumani's Way

Luca Cumani's Samurai Way, one of the market leaders for the Cesarewitch, has been handed an unfavourable draw.

The improving stayer, 6-1 joint favourite with Fair Along with sponsors totesport for tomorrow's Newmarket marathon, is drawn on the wide outside in stall two of 34.

Marathon tilt: Cumani

The last winner from a single-figure draw was Turnpole 10 years ago.

Cumani said: "I am something of a novice in this race, but people tell me I should be worried about Samurai Way's draw. Statistically it is bad.

"I'm hoping Samurai Way can improve once again as he has done all season and put in one last big effort."

But he added: "I am hoping the ground (soft) dries out for him."
