The Grand Prix Drivers' Association secured a cut following a meeting with FIA president Max Mosley yesterday although no details have been released of the new fee.

At present drivers pay £9,650 for a licence plus £1,950 for each point they win but in 2007 the licence was £1,600 with £415 a point.

The FIA said: "A reduced fee would reflect the major cost reductions that will be brought into the sport next season. A number of other issues were discussed at the meeting and the FIA has agreed to meet representatives of the GPDA regularly to maintain what promises to be a constructive dialogue."
