Dropped Kaboul will prove he's a class act says Keane

Robbie Keane today backed Younes Kaboul to bounce back from manager Juande Ramos's decision to drop the defender for tonight's UEFA Cup clash in Anderlecht.

Kaboul, who signed from Auxerre for £8.2m at the start of the season, has suffered the embarrassment of being left out of the squad despite being one of only two fit centre halves available.

Ramos is believed to have become dismayed at Kaboul's poor performances, but captain Keane is convinced the Frenchman's quality will eventually shine through. "Younes will be a good player," said Keane.

"He is still young, he is only 21 and this is his first season in English football. He will learn from his mistakes, but these things happen."

Although Ramos is considering sending Kaboul (below) out on loan, the Spaniard insists he still has a future at the club.

He said: "Kaboul has not travelled because you can have 18 people in your squad, so, logically, you make your selections on who is the most suitable for each game.

"I don't know why I would send Kaboul out on loan. He is our player and we are very satisfied and happy he is with us. We have a squad and we have to try and let all of the players play, participate and feel important.

"The best form of defence is attack, that is the philosophy we are trying to implement and, hopefully, we will do it against Anderlecht."
