Drug cheat Asif faces uncertain future after positive nandrolone test

Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Asif's 'B' sample has tested positive for banned substance nandrolone after he failed a drugs test during the Indian Premier League.
The 25-year-old failed an initial doping test following the Delhi Daredevils' IPL semi-final defeat to Rajasthan Royals in May.
Asif: Worrying times for the fast bowler
The testing of the 'B' sample, which was carried out at a World Anti-Doping-accredited laboratory in Geneva on Monday, has returned a similar result.
The player's lawyer confirmed the positive test although he did hint at an appeal after a discrepancy was found between the "A" and "B" samples.
Shahid Karim told www.cricketnirvana.com: 'We have just completed the test on the "B" sample of Asif's urine which has come back positive.
'But I can tell you that the quantity of nandrolone has varied which we can contest.'
It is the latest in a series of controversies which have dogged Asif over the last two years.
The paceman also tested positive for nandrolone in 2006 during an out-of-competition test conducted by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
He was initially banned for two years but the sentence was overturned on appeal.
In June, Asif was detained at Dubai International Airport on suspicion of carrying drugs as he returned home to Pakistan after the IPL.
The charges were later dropped and he was deported.
